Inn to Inn Tour

For those who want a variety of exciting activities during the day, but don’t want to “rough it,” we offer our Virgin Islands Inn to Inn Tour. This is a multi-sport tour: featuring hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding and snorkeling during the day, while staying in charming hotels and inns at night. The following is a sample itinerary of our tour. Please note, however, that it is only a sample itinerary. We try our best to follow this route, but wind and weather, as well as hotel availability, can sometimes cause us to change our schedule.

DAY 1: Arrive St. Thomas.  Take a taxi to Red Hook, and then the ferry to St. John.  Once on St. John,  you will be greeted by a representative from Arawak Expeditions and shuttled to your first hotel, Coconut Coast Villas.  Coconut Coast is a small, charming hotel located right on the water in Turner Bay.  It is in a quiet location, yet within walking distance of the shops and nightlife of Cruz Bay.  Dinner tonight will be at one of Cruz Bay’s restaurants where we will discuss the upcoming week.

DAY 2: Today we’ll spend hiking some of the remote trails through the VI National Park. We begin with a ride up Centerline road to the ruins of the Catherineberg sugar mill. After a brief visit of these ruins, we’ll continue on to the head of the L’esperance trail. This trail follows an old Danish road through the L’esperance and Siebens valley and ends at the beach at Genti Bay. We’ll stop here for a swim and a picnic lunch before continuing on to the ruins of the Reef Bay sugar factory, which was the last operational factory on the island, producing sugar up until 1917. From here, we’ll continue on a shoreline walk/scramble to our rendezvous with the vehicle to take us back to our hotel.

DAY 3: After breakfast, we will paddle to Great Thatch, an uninhabited cay in the British Virgin Islands.  There we will have lunch on the spectacular sandy beach. We will then head to West End, Tortola where we will clear customs before heading to our accommodations in Cane Garden Bay.  Cane Garden Bay is one of the most beautiful bays on Tortola, and the inn there is fully equipped with all amenities, and is only a stone’s throw from the beach.  There we will have a fun-filled evening with a barbecue dinner and dancing to a local fungi band.

DAY 4: We will take a shuttle to the top of Sage Mountain where we will spend the day hiking in the National Park.  We’ll have a picnic lunch at the highest point in the British and US Virgin Islands, before returning to our hotel in Cane Garden Bay.

DAY 5: Paddle from West End, Tortola to Jost Van Dyke where we will stay at a charming villa in White Bay.  After lunch we will spend the afternoon snorkeling in the bay before dinner at the world renowned Foxy’s.

DAY 6: We’ll hike to the “Bubbly Pool,” a natural jacuzzi on the water’s edge on the eastern tip of Jost Van Dyke.  After our hike, we’ll stop for lunch at the restaurant “Taboo” (try the Taboo Burger!) before returning to our hotel.

DAY 7: Kayak from White Bay, Jost Van Dyke back to St. John.  Along the way, we will stop at Henley Cay, one of the uninhabited offshore cays in the Virgin Islands National Park.  We’ll snorkel here and have a picnic lunch, before finishing in Cruz Bay around 2:00 or 3:00 pm.
